01 Development Background

In the background of energy storage system becomes more and more popular globally and power export limitation & control policy widely implements in a lot of countries such as Spain, Australia, Morocco, the Philippines, and many other countries.

02 Smart Meter Introduction

Smart meter broadly used in the PV system with export power limitation & control request and energy storage system. It’s usually installed on the power line(s) between loads and grid to detect the power feed-in grid or obtained from the grid and it can instantly transmit the detected power data to the inverter via RS485 communication so that the inverter can adjust the output power and battery charge and discharge power to achieve energy management and control.

Sunways STM is a bidirectional smart meter supporting various grid voltages and grid types, which collects and records voltage, current, active power, reactive power and other electric energy information that feed in and take from the grid. Together with Sunways monitoring system, the STM records and presents various energy flows data such as self-consumption. Thanks to the rapid communication with Sunways inverters via Modbus RTU interface, it can fast process export limitation & control with on-grid inverter and realize perfect coordination among hybrid inverter, PV string, battery, grid and loads, optimized the whole system energy management and improved self-sufficiency rates.
